Projects

Cross Section is currently involved in two major projects:

  1. Monthly activist / community potluck and open mic: We hold monthly potluck community events at the Cascade People's Center. Themes vary each month. In the past, we have hosted: Colombian union activist William Mendoza and speakers from PUSO on the subject of corporate human rights abuses in Colombia, the Philippines and around the world; a showing of Big Noise Films' Fourth World War; an open forum on Seattle activism. (We've quit putting on these events for a variety of reasons, but will be doing something similar very soon; we will announce future events on our email list and on this site.)
  2. Perspectives on Tactics and Strategy: In mid-May*, Ward Churchill (American Indian Movement activist, CU professor of ethnic studies and author of On the Justice of Roosting Chickens and Pacifism as Pathology), Aaron Dixon (founder of the Seattle chapter of the Black Panther Party) and Derrick Jensen (environmental activist and author of Culture of Make Believe and A Language Older Than Words) will come together to share their perspectives and discuss tactics and strategies for achieving justice with Seattle activists.

    * Due to Ward's busy schedule, we don't know when this event will actually take place, but we are still working on it. We are also hoping to bring Derrick to talk about his new book, Endgame.

  3. Opening an infoshop / community space in Seattle's Central Dstrict: Want to be involved? Contact us (email: crosssection@againstthewall.net; phone: 206-328-5667).
